Taken by Nikhil Sarma

Eleonor England was born in Newport Beach, California. Starting age 10, Eleonor studied voice with Dr. Rosemary Knudsen, a local french horn player and voice instructor who guided her studies in classical voice, arranging, music theory and conducting. Eleonor taught plays piano and string bass (both self-taught) and studied opera for 6 years under Pauline Tweed and Lynn Henderson. When she reached age 18, Eleonor stopped performing classical music and concentrated on her interest in jazz and blues. She studied piano and arranging under Shep Meyers (Ella, Anita O'Day, Julie London) who guided her studies as an adult. She studied vocal improvisation under Michele Weir in Los Angeles.

Eleonor launched her jazz career with the first annual Black Valentine's Day show in San Francisco, CA. Since then she has played such world-reknown venues as San Francisco's Elbo Room and various music festivals and events and have been featured on radio and television.

Eleonor resides alternately in San Francisco, California and San Diego, California and is a regular performer in San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego. A cd is currently being produced by Shep Meyers in San Diego.

Eleonor's 3½ octave range and blues aesthetic has made her a favorite performer up and down the coast and has garnered positive reviews from radio and print alike. Come see why Eleonor has received so many critics choice awards for her live shows and received so many press accolades such as her inclusion in Maximillien J De Lafayette's new book "Entertainment Divas, Cabaret, Jazz Then and Now: Including World's Who's Who of the Greatest Female Singers of All Time.
